About Us
Who Are We? We are a small progressive non profit group of local people, formed on the 8th March 2007, who are all committed to a common goal of improving Barmouth, both as a town for local residents, and as a holiday resort for our tourist industry.
In a truly radical and ambitious way we aim to achieve this overall objective by fulfilling a variety of proposals that would range from the simple tidying of neglected small areas and corners of local authority land, to full-blown resort changing projects.
We have a fully formed committee with relevant sub committees and abide by a formally drawn up legal constitution. We have regular meetings to discuss any progress achieved and any new proposals that may develop into future projects.
Why have we formed?
We feel proud of our town, in fact we are passionate about it and believe that it can be improved in many important areas.
Barmouth is falling behind and needs to play catch up, and in some ways almost recreate itself, to continue to attract visitors from all over the world.
We feel it is about time that somebody took control of the town’s own affairs and became pro-active in improving and regenerating the areas that need attention and we aim to achieve it in a professional and truly effective way. How we intend to achieve our objectives?
We intend to have a positive approach to all our objectives and to listen to ideas from all over the town. When an idea is presented we intend to;
1. Form plans and project strategies into firm proposals for approval by relevant local bodies including Town Council and County Council and their representatives. 2. Consider all issues regarding Health and Safety and other legal requirements. 3. Work with other local groups with similar objectives to achieve the overall aims. 4. Find funding opportunities, through donations, grants and sponsorship. 5. With the help of local volunteers complete the job in hand to the best of our abilities. 6. Maintain all work where necessary to the highest standard. We wish to involve the whole town and welcome any support we have, as well as listen to any objections that may occur. It is our main objective in all cases that all work will be done with the best interest of the town, its visitors and its valued residents, and not for personal or company profit, either directly or indirectly.
When we intend to achieve our objectives?
This will depend on the projects in hand. Some will take longer than others but all will be done as soon as possible. All the work carried out by the committee and volunteers will not be rushed, proper measures will be done to ensure the full impact of the venture will be felt throughout the community.
