BRIG Awards and Nominations

BRIG have worked hard over the years to deliver projects that improve the town, as well as support other local groups in a variety of ways.

Our hard work has been recognised with nominations and awards  from diiferent sections and bodies which we have listed below.

All the outstanding achievements could not have been made without the hard work of the group and the financial support from everyone who has contributed to the variety of projects we have done.

Any awards however, we accept on behalf of all of Barmouth and its generous and wonderful people  who have helped us make the changes and given their support and encouragement throughout.

PEA Awards 2011

We were nominated for the People and Environment Achievement  Award 2011 in the Community Award Section and the Ceremony took place in the National Geographic Store, Regent Street, London on the 2nd March, and was presented by Liz Bonnin.

It was wonderful that we have made the top 3 for the work we have done, however we did not win the award on this occasion.

When the announcement was made, Liz said,

"The judges very much liked the idea of a British seaside resort being restored to make it more attractive, and providing an alternative to getting on a plane to travel abroad. A very popular choice these days. The seaside town of Barmouth in North Wales has involved a lot of people in greening and general improvements, creating a true community activity between visitors and residents."

It was a great event and it was fantastic to be included in this and represent our town in this prestigeous national award.  It was an honour to be selected and does reflect the hard work we have put into our projects, and it will certainly give us a boost for the projects we intend to fulfill in the coming year.

Green List Wales 2010

We were nominated for the Green List Wales 2010 Award, with the ceremony taking place in Llangollen on the 22nd November, and we are proud to say that we won.  We were one of only three winners from the whole of Gwynedd too, which is quite an achievement for us.

Rhian and Will went on behalf of BRIG, and were delighted at receiving such a huge honour, and being in the company of other  successful businesses and organisations (picture below).

The certificate below, with Greg and Dave mentioned, is in recognition of our dedication to sustainability in Wales, and for the hard work we have put in this year, and indeed since our formation in early 2007.

It is, and always has been, our aim to improve the town in as many ways as possible, and receiving recognition for this is very special.

Wales Volunteer of the Year 2009

We are pleased to say that we have recieved a voluntary award from the Welsh Council For Voluntary Action and were presented with this in front of our well loved Dolphin Water Feature.  It is an honour to be given this award, nominated by Kevin Chambers, and we hope to keep improving the town for many more years to come.
